Welcome to the MetLife Special Needs Calculator

Planning for the future of your dependent with special needs can be a complicated process. It’s important, however, to plan for their care and continued quality of life when you are no longer around. The MetLife Center for Special Needs PlanningSM, was established in 1998 as a service to families with dependents with special needs. Its purpose is to assist families through the maze of legal and financial complexities surrounding planning for the future. The Center can help guide you through the process and help you achieve the peace of mind that comes when you know you have planned appropriately.

MetLife has an ongoing commitment to help assure financial freedom for all individuals with special needs. That’s why we created an educational planning tool to help increase awareness and understanding of the financial needs your dependent will have over the course of a lifetime. There are some important things you should keep in mind.

  • If you leave a person with special needs more than $2,000, they may lose most government benefit eligibility.
  • Laws vary by state – it is important to know a financial professional who is aware of the laws and can refer you to special needs attorneys within your state.
  • MetLife Special Needs Planner can provide local resources — all across the country — available to help with a variety of issues for your dependent, right within your own community.

This calculator guides you through the process of estimating your dependent’s potential income from wages, government benefits or other sources as well as estimating future expenses for housing transportation and day-to-day living in the quality lifestyle you undoubtedly want for them.

MetLife is one of the first financial services company to have a dedicated organization of financial services representatives throughout the country to help families with this kind of planning.  Special Needs Planners do not charge fees for initial meetings to help families get answers, find resources and learn how to plan for the future.

To see how The Center can be of help to you, we invite you to visit our website at www.metlife.com/specialneeds. There you will find a description of the program, information and resources, newsletters on topics you might find of interest and the opportunity to sign up for a workshop or have a MetLife Special Needs Planner contact you.
